NEWPORT BEACH POLICE OFFICER ARRAIGNED FOR RECKLESSLY DISCHARGING FIREARM WHILE OFF DUTY

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A Newport Beach Police Department (NBPD) officer was arraigned yesterday for discharging a firearm with gross negligence while off duty.

Circumstances of the Case

  • At the time of the crime, Stucken was employed as a police officer by NBPD but was off duty.
  • On or about May 22, 2017, the defendant is accused of leaving a bar in San Clemente with Jane Doe in an Uber.
  • Stucken is accused of exiting the Uber by himself in Jane Doe’s neighborhood and firing multiple rounds from a personal firearm, which was not the defendant’s NBPD service weapon.
  • Orange County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene and contacted the defendant.
