MAN WITH SWASTIKA TATTOO CHARGED WITH HATE CRIME FOR PUNCHING MAN WHILE YELLING RACIAL SLUR

SANTA ANA – A man with a swastika tattoo was charged today with a hate crime for punching another man in the face and yelling a racial slur at him.

Circumstances of the Case

  • On Sept. 4, 2017, Mayfield is accused of approaching John Doe in a commercial parking lot in Fullerton.
  • The defendant is accused of becoming agitated because the victim did not have a lighter he could borrow.
  • Mayfield is further accused of calling John Doe, who is Filipino and Turkish, a racial slur and punching the victim multiple times.
  • A nearby witness called 911 to report the incident.
  • Fullerton Police Department (FPD) officers responded to the scene and arrested the defendant, who has a swastika tattoo on his right shoulder.
  • FPD investigated this case.
