65-YEAR-OLD CHIROPRACTOR CONVICTED AND SENTENCED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING 28-YEAR-OLD FEMALE CLIENT DURING THERAPY SESSION
SANTA ANA – A 65-year-old chiropractor was convicted and sentenced today for sexually assaulting a 28-year-old female client during a massage therapy session. Dennis Scott Durbin, 65, Costa Mesa, pleaded guilty today, June 14, 2013, to one felony count of sexual battery by fraud. He was sentenced to 365 days in jail, three years of formal probation, mandatory lifetime sex offender registration, and agreed to have his chiropractor license revoked.
In 2011, Jane Doe visited Sky Park Chiropractic in Irvine and met with the defendant to receive chiropractic therapy for an injured knee. On July 19, 2012, Jane Doe visited the office again for an appointment and the defendant offered a massage service in addition to Jane Doe’s regular treatment program.
On Aug. 4, 2012, Jane Doe returned for a massage therapy appointment. During the massage, the defendant inappropriately touched Jane Doe on intimate parts of her body.
Jane Doe reported the case to the National Sexual Assault hotline, who then contacted the Irvine Police Department (IPD).
Durbin’s mandatory lifetime sex offender registration will bar him from entering County recreational areas and City parks which have passed the Sex Offender Ordinance.
