ACUPUNCTURIST CHARGED WITH SEXUAL BATTERY FOR RUBBING PATIENT’S VAGINA AND PULLING OFF HER PANTS DURING TREATMENT SESSION
*Law enforcement is seeking the public’s help in identifying potential additional victims
NEWPORT BEACH – An acupuncturist has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a female patient by rubbing her vagina and pulling off her pants during a treatment session. William James Goit, 52, San Clemente, is charged with one misdemeanor count of sexual battery and faces a maximum sentence of one year in jail if convicted. Goit was arrested this afternoon at his Laguna Hills office by deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) and his bail has been set at $10,000. An arraignment date is to be determined.
On April 21, 2010, 46-year-old Jane Doe went to see Goit at La Paz Acupuncture & Massage in Laguna Hills, whom she had been going to for treatments for over a year. After administering acupuncture on the victim, Goit is accused of having Jane Doe flip from her back onto her stomach under the pretense of massaging her spine. He is accused of making inappropriate comments about the victim’s appearance.
While the victim was laying face-down, Goit is accused of beginning to rub her buttocks and down her leg. He is accused of rubbing the victim’s vagina over her clothes, propping her up so that her buttocks was raised off the table, and pulling Jane Doe’s pants down to expose her vagina. The victim quickly pulled her pants up and left. She reported the sexual battery to OCSD.
Anyone with additional information or who thinks they have been a victim is encouraged to contact Supervising District Attorney Investigator Carl Waddell at (714) 834-7538 or the OCSD Special Victims Unit at (714) 647-7419.
Deputy District Attorney Hope Morgan is prosecuting this case.
