ANAHEIM MAN TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR FORCIBLY RAPING TWO WOMEN HE MET AT
BUS STOPS IN ORANGE
SANTA ANA – A man will be arraigned today on charges of forcibly raping two women after approaching them at bus stops in Orange. David Julian Stieglitz, 32, Anaheim, is charged with one felony count each of forcible rape and sexual penetration by a foreign object by force for Jane Doe #1. He is charged with one felony count each of forcible rape and forcible oral copulation for Jane Doe #2. He also faces sentencing enhancements for forcible rape and oral copulation of multiple victims. If convicted, Stieglitz faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison. The People will be requesting $1 million bail at Stieglitz’s arraignment today, Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. in Department C-57, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.
At approximately 11:00 a.m. on Oct. 12, 2009, Stieglitz is accused of pulling up to a bus stop in his Saturn sedan on Hewes Street and Chapman Avenue in Orange and offering 18-year-old Jane Doe #1 a ride. He is accused of taking the victim to a nearby restaurant parking lot. He is accused of digitally penetrating and forcibly raping her. He is accused of dropping the victim off at Santiago Canyon College and driving away.
After the Orange Police Department (OPD) released information on the defendant and video of Stieglitz aired on the news, Jane Doe #2 came forward to OPD. On March 19, 2009, Stieglitz is accused meeting 22-year-old Jane Doe #2 at a bus stop in Orange. The defendant is accused of asking for her phone number and then leaving. Stieglitz is accused of calling Jane Doe #2 on March 21, 2009, and asking to meet her at The Village at Orange. He is accused of picking her up and taking her to a nearby restaurant parking lot. He is accused of forcing her to orally copulate him and forcibly raping the victim.
