ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY TRACY MILLER PROMOTED TO SENIOR ASSISTANT DISTRICT ATTORNEY
SANTA ANA, Calif. – Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas has announced the promotion of Assistant District Attorney Tracy Miller to the position of senior assistant district attorney assigned to oversee GRIP, Gang Injunctions, Family Protection, Narcotics, and Juvenile Justice Center, and co-manage the Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit.
Senior Assistant District Attorney Tracy Miller received her bachelor of arts degree in political science from Loyola Marymount University in 1992 and her juris doctor degree from Southwestern University School of Law in 1996.
Miller began her career as a law clerk at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office (LADA) for prosecutors Marcia Clark, Bill Hodgman, and Christopher Darden on the People v. O.J. Simpson case. She later joined the Orange County District Attorney’s Office in 1997. Miller litigated hundreds of legal motions and preliminary hearings, provided domestic violence trainings, and prosecuted various misdemeanor and felony cases.
Miller was later assigned to the Santa Ana TARGET Unit and was responsible for the vertical prosecution of gang serious violent gang cases, often involving multiple defendants and extended theories of liability. She was assigned to form and initiate the gang injunction program, which involves suing criminal street gangs for being a nuisance to Orange County residents, and prosecuted the first four gang injunctions in the County. From 2011 to 2012, she served as assistant head of court for the Gang/TARGET Unit. In 2010, Miller was further assigned to create and establish the Orange County Gang Prevention Partnership (OC GRIP), the largest gang prevention program in the United States. She was promoted to assistant district attorney of OC GRIP and Gang Injunctions in 2012. The OC GRIP program involves over 300 law enforcement partners, 12 School Districts, faith-based groups, private businesses, non-profit organizations, 400 community partners and over 3,000 volunteers to keep kids out of gangs.
Tracy was an adjunct professor for Chapman University, the 2010 Ambassador of Peace Award recipient, the recipient of the Orange Police Department’s Medal of Honor, and the 2013 Orange County Department of Education’s Community Service Award recipient. Miller received the 2017 Raise Foundation Champion of Children Award. She co-created the Women Lawyers Executive Management Group and presented for the District Attorney’s Office at the 2017 California Women Lawyers Conference. Miller was recently appointed to the Orange County Bar Association Board of Directors.
