MEETINGS WERE HELD
WESTMINSTER – A Westminster man who hosted regular Bible study meetings in his home will be arraigned tomorrow for sexually assaulting two young male relatives beginning when the victims were 11 years old. James Ray Guerrero, 50, Westminster, is charged with seven felony counts of lewd acts upon a child under 14 and one felony count of distributing pornography to a minor. He also faces sentencing enhancement allegations for substantial sexual conduct with a child and lewd acts on more than one child. He faces a maximum sentence of 90 years and eight months to life in state prison if convicted. He is being held on $1 million bail and is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 11, 2009, at 8:30 a.m. in Department W-14, West Justice Center, Westminster.
John Doe #1 and John Doe #2 regularly attended Bible study meetings hosted by Guerrero in his Westminster home. Guerrero is accused of grooming the victims by frequently inviting them over to his home and showing them pornographic movies.
Between January 2006 and December 2007, Guerrero is accused of sexually assaulting John Doe #1 on several occasions when he was 11 to 13 years old. The defendant is accused of inviting the victim to his home and masturbating the victim.
Between January 2007 and December 2008, Guerrero is accused of molesting John Doe #2 in his Westminster home on several occasions when the victim was 11 to 12 years old, including masturbation and attempted sodomy. Guerrero is accused of telling both victims not to tell anyone about the assault.
In July 2009, John #1, then 15 years old, disclosed to family members that he had been molested by Guerrero. His family encouraged him to report the sexual assault. The Westminster Police Department (WPD) investigated this case and discovered the sexual assault against John Doe #2.
Anyone with additional information or who believes they may have been a victim is encouraged to contact Supervising District Attorney Investigator Tim Craig at (714) 347-8558 or Westminster Police Detective Allan Aoki at (714) 898-3315.
