CAL STATE FULLERTON POLICE OFFICER PLEADED GUILTY TO DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE WHILE ON DUTY

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A California State University Fullerton Police Department (CSUFPD) officer pleaded guilty today to driving under the influence of alcohol while on duty in a patrol vehicle.

Pleaded guilty today to the following misdemeanor counts:

  • Driving under the influence of alcohol
  • Driving with blood alcohol content of 0.08% or higher

Three years of informal probation

Circumstances of the Case

  • At approximately 8:00 p.m. on May 7, 2018, Higgs showed objective signs of intoxication during a CSUFPD briefing.
  • Officers notified their command staff, who investigated this case.
  • Higgs drove a marked patrol car around the campus with a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .09 percent.
