TO BE ARRAIGNED ON CHARGES OF MOLESTING
TWO FEMALE STUDENTS
*Defendant also charged with molesting another 8-year-old girl in a separate case

LAGUNA NIGUEL – A piano teacher, already facing charges for molesting an 8-year-old girl, will be arraigned tomorrow on new charges for molesting two girls, 8 and 9-years-old, while they were his students.  Daniel Peter Gaudin, 68, who taught lessons at student’s homes and in a private room at “The Music Store” in La Mirada, is charged with felony continuous sexual abuse for Jane Doe #2 and felony continuous sexual abuse for Jane Doe #3. If convicted on these counts, Gaudin faces a maximum sentence of 32 years in prison. He is being held on no bail and is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow, Friday, August 17, 2007 at 8:30 a.m. in Department S-2, Harbor Justice Center, Laguna Niguel.

In a separate case, the defendant is charged with felony lewd acts on a child under 14 and felony continuous sexual abuse, and a sentencing enhancement allegation for committing substantial sexual conduct on a child. If convicted of these counts Gaudin faces a maximum sentence of 24 years in state prison. He is scheduled to begin trial for molesting Jane Doe #1 on September 4, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana.

Case #06SF0427

Gaudin was the piano teacher for a 7-year-old girl and her 10-year-old sister. Between October 1, 2004 and April 18, 2006, the defendant is accused of sexually assaulting the younger daughter when she was between the ages of 7 and 9-years-old during her weekly piano lessons at the children’s home. He is accused of touching her vaginal area multiple times over her clothes during each lesson, tickling her and whispering in her ear that he loved her. He is accused of scheduling the piano lessons while the parents were not at home, and only a nanny was present, to have greater access to the child.

Gaudin was charged for the sexual assault of Jane Doe #1 in April of 2006 and attended all required court appearances while out on bail until December 1, 2006. Gaudin is accused of failing to appear at a pre-trial hearing, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.  Further investigation revealed that Gaudin fled from the United States to Germany on November 9, 2006 in an effort to avoid prosecution on child molest charges.

Case #07SF0470

Between April 1, 2005 and April 30, 2006, Gaudin is accused of sexually assaulting 8-year-old Jane Doe #2. He is accused of touching her upper thighs inappropriately, whispering that he loved her, and making sexual comments during her piano lessons.
