CHILD CARE EMPLOYEE TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING A SIX-YEAR-OLD BOY

LAGUNA NIGUEL – An employee of a children’s day care program is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow for sexually assaulting a six-year-old boy who was left in his charge.  Scott Christensen, 23, of Rancho Santa Margarita, is charged with two counts of lewd acts upon a child for having substantial sexual contact with a child under the age of 14.   If convicted, he faces 10 years in prison.  Christensen is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow, August 9, 2006, at 1:30 p.m., at Harbor Justice Center in Laguna Niguel.

Christensen is employed as a Child Care Leader at The Learning Connection (TLC), an after-school day care program hosted by the Saddleback Valley Unified School District at elementary schools in Southern California.  He has worked for TLC for six years.  Between May 1, 2006 and August 7, 2006, he is accused of sexually molesting a little boy in the victim’s Rancho Santa Margarita home.  Christensen had been hired by the victim’s parents as a babysitter after meeting them through TLC at Melinda Heights Elementary School in Rancho Santa Margarita.

Anyone who believes they may have been victimized or who has additional information on this case should contact Senior Deputy District Attorney Beth Carmichael of the Sexual Assault Unit at (714) 347-8593.
