DETROIT MOTHER OF FOUR AND HER BROTHER CHARGED WITH FELONY WELFARE FRAUD FOR RECEIVING WELFARE CHECKS AS CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS
Santa Ana – Quidonna Taylor, 33, of Detroit, MI and her brother Clifford Taylor, 27, also of Detroit, MI have been charged with felony welfare fraud. The defendants are accused of having Social Services mail their food stamps and child care payments to a P.O. Box in California, which would then be forwarded to their real address in Michigan. The Taylors were also receiving welfare in the State of Michigan. It is estimated that the Taylors fraudulently received more than $15,000 in financial support and food stamps from the State of California. If convicted they face a maximum sentence of 3 years 8 months in state prison.
Quidonna Taylor is accused of submitting a form to Social Services, which listed her employer as Worldwide Cleaning in Irvine, CA. After checking the address OCDA investigators found that the address was actually for a private residence and that Ms. Taylor had no connection to the residents of the home. All four of Ms. Taylor’s children were transferred from a school in Fountain Valley, CA to a school in Highland Park, MI in the winter of 2003.
Quidonna Taylor is set for arraignment at 1:30 PM this afternoon in department N7 of the North Justice Center, 1275 N. Berkeley Avenue, Fullerton, CA 92631. Clifford Taylor is not in custody, a warrant for his arrest is currently in effect in Michigan. Deputy District Attorney Steve Bickel in the Welfare Fraud unit has been assigned to prosecute the case.
