SANTA ANA – A driver was arrested yesterday and charged today with felony gross vehicular manslaughter with the sentencing enhancement of fleeing the scene of a manslaughter and felony hit and run, for killing a man with a truck during a birthday party at a mobile home park last President’s Day weekend. If convicted, Felix Anthony Abreu, 21, Anaheim, faces a maximum sentence of 11 years in state prison. The People are requesting the bail be set at $150,000. Abreu is scheduled to be arraigned Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at 8:30 a.m. in Department C-55, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.
On Feb. 17, 2008, around 4:30 a.m., Arthur Carmona, 25, was attending a birthday party at the Quiet Village Mobile Home Park in Santa Ana. Abreu is accused of driving a 2002 Chevy Silverado gray pick-up truck registered to a friend who was also attending the party. Abreu is accused of driving recklessly on a roadway in the mobile home park, hitting Carmona who was running from the car in an effort to avoid being struck.
