HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC TRAINER TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR HAVING UNLAWFUL SEX WITH MALE HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT
NEWPORT BEACH – A high school athletic trainer will be arraigned tomorrow for having an unlawful sexual relationship for one year with a male high school student. Hope Ashley Jacoby, 23, San Juan Capistrano, is charged with four felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse, three felony counts of oral copulation of a minor, and one felony count of distributing pornography to a minor. She faces a maximum sentence of seven years and eight months in state prison if convicted. Jacoby is out of custody on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow, Jan. 21, 2009, at 9:00 a.m. at the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach. The Department is to be determined.
Between Jan. 1, 2008, and Dec. 19, 2008, Jacoby is accused of having an unlawful sexual relationship with a male student, whom she met while working as an athletic trainer at Tustin High School. She is accused of having unlawful sex with the victim in her car and at her San Juan Capistrano home on several occasions when the victim was between 16 and 17 years old.
