HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL AND BAND VOLUNTEER CONVICTED OF UNLAWFUL SEX WITH
FEMALE STUDENT
SANTA ANA – A volunteer with a high school baseball team and band was convicted today of having an unlawful sexual relationship with a female student when she was 14 and 15 years old. Giovanno Jimenez, 26, Santa Ana, pleaded guilty to a court offer to two felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and one felony count of lewd acts on a child. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail, three years of formal probation with sex offender probation terms, and a protective order was issued ordering him to stay away from the victim.
Between July 17, 2008, and Aug. 20, 2008, Jimenez had an unlawful sexual relationship with Jane Doe on multiple occasions when she was 14 and 15 years old at the victim’s house when her parents were not home. Jimenez met the victim at Valley High School in Santa Ana, where Jane Doe was a student, while volunteering with the frosh/soph baseball team and school band. Police began investigating the case after receiving a complaint from a concerned parent.
Deputy District Attorney Jess Rodriguez of the Sexual Assault Unit prosecuted this case.
