HIGH SCHOOL SECURITY SUPERVISOR AND BASKETBALL COACH CHARGED FOR HAVING UNLAWFUL SEXUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH
16-YEAR-OLD FEMALE STUDENT
NEWPORT BEACH – A high school security supervisor and part-time basketball coach will be arraigned today for having an unlawful sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl, whom he met while working at Aliso Niguel High School. Thomas Cole, 32, Fountain Valley, is charged with one felony count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, one felony count of oral copulation of a minor, and one felony count of sexual penetration by foreign object of a minor. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of four years and four months in state prison. Cole is being held on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned today, Thursday, Sep. 11, 2008, at the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach. The time and Department are to be determined.
Between July 1, 2008, and Sep. 6, 2008, Cole is accused of having an unlawful sexual relationship with a 16-year-old female student from Aliso Niguel High School. Cole worked at the school as a supervisor of security and part-time basketball coach and met the victim, Jane Doe, at the high school. He is accused of taking Jane Doe to his then-home in Irvine and digitally penetrating, orally copulating, and having sexual intercourse with her.
Cole has also worked at Lakeside Middle School and Woodbridge High School in Irvine.
