NEWPORT BEACH – A hockey mother has surrendered herself to the court and will be arraigned today on charges of sexually assaulting two boys, 13 and 16, who were friends with her son on his hockey team. Kathia Maria Davis, 44, Laguna Niguel, is charged with two felony counts of lewd acts on a child under 14 for John Doe #1, four felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse for John Doe #2, and a sentencing enhancement allegation for substantial sexual conduct with a child for John Doe #1. If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of 12 years and eight months in state prison. Davis is scheduled to be arraigned today, Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, in Department H-2, Harbor Justice Center, Newport Beach. The time is to be determined.
In April 2005, Davis is accused of meeting 13-year-old John Doe #1 through her son’s hockey team. On a night between April 30, 2005, and April 29, 2006, the defendant is accused letting her son and John Doe #1 drink alcohol in her home during a sleepover. After her son and daughter went to sleep on the floor of the room they were all in, Davis is accused of kissing and masturbating the 13-year-old boy.
In July 2010, Davis is accused of knowing 16-year-old John Doe #2 through her son’s hockey team. On four occasions between July 1, 2010, and July 31, 2011, the defendant is accused of having unlawful sexual intercourse with John Doe #2 at her home in her bedroom. On some of those occasions, her two children were present in the house. Davis is accused of giving John Doe #2 alcohol.
John Doe #2 told his mother about the unlawful sexual contact and alcohol consumption with Davis, and the Orange County Sherriff’s Department was subsequently contacted.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with additional information or who thinks they have been a victim is encouraged to contact Supervising District Attorney Investigator Lou Gutierrez at (714) 347-8794.
