HUNTINGTON BEACH MAN TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING AN 83-YEAR-OLD WOMAN

WESTMINSTER – A Huntington Beach man is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow for the violent sexual assault of an 83-year-old woman in her Rossmoor home.  Jeffrey Miller, 35, is charged with four counts of sexual penetration by a foreign object by force, kidnapping, aggravated assault, assault with the intent to commit a sexual offense, torture, first degree residential burglary, first degree robbery, and enhancements for causing great bodily injury to a sexual assault victim and committing a crime against a vulnerable victim. If convicted, he faces a minimum sentence of 50 years to life in prison.  Miller is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow, August 3, 2006, at 8:30 a.m. in department W15, West Justice Center, Westminster.

On July 12, 2006, Miller is accused of breaking into the home of an 83-year-old woman who lived alone in Rossmoor.  The defendant is accused of jumping over the fence into the victim’s yard and breaking into her home.  He is accused of brutally sexually assaulting her multiple times.  He is also accused of moving the victim from one room of the house to another and demanding money and jewelry. 

Deputy District Attorney Kal Kaliban of the Sexual Assault Unit is prosecuting this case.
