FORUM ON YOUTH VIOLENCE, GANGS,
DRUGS AND THE INTERNET

Parents of elementary and middle school aged children are invited to participate in a free community resource forum, “Is Your Child at Risk?,” to discuss the issues and challenges faced by youths related to drugs, gangs, violence, and the Internet. The City of San Juan Capistrano, Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA), and Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) invite Orange County parents to attend the informative presentation and have an opportunity to speak with professionals who work in various industries for youth risk prevention.  The parent awareness and education presentation will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at 6:30 p.m. at the San Juan Capistrano Community Center, 25925 Camino Del Avion, San Juan Capistrano.

Parents are invited to attend a 1-hour presentation by various industry professionals, including speakers from the OCDA and OCSD, who will discuss violence among youths, bullying, gang issues, drug trends, and Internet safety. Following the presentation, parents will have an opportunity to visit information and resource tables and speak with professionals about signs and tools for identifying and helping at-risk youth. Representatives will be available from the Boys and Girls Club of Capistrano Valley, California Youth Services, Capistrano Unified School District, Coastal Mountain Youth Academy, Community Alliance Network – Orange County, Complete Drug Testing,  OCDA Gang Injunctions, OCDA Government and Community Relations,  Orange County Fire Authority, OCSD High Tech Crimes Unit, OCSD School Resource Officers, Parent Project, South County Family Resource Center, and other education, health care, law enforcement, and prevention providers.
