LAW ENFORCEMENT SEEKING POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL VICTIMS OF DENTAL ASSISTANT CHARGED WITH SEXUALLY ASSAULTING
TWO FEMALE PATIENTS UNDER 10 YEARS OLD
SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) and Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) are seeking the public’s help identifying potential additional victims of a dental assistant charged with sexually assaulting two underage female patients. Tommy Medina, 25, Santa Ana, is charged with two felony counts of oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child 10 years or younger. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 30 years to life in state prison. He is being held on $1 million bail. His scheduled arraignment in court was continued today to Oct. 9, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana.
At the time of the crimes, Medina worked as a dental assistant at OC Kids Dental in Santa Ana.
Between Dec. 1, 2013, and Jan. 1, 2014, Medina is accused of taking patient Jane Doe 1, who was under 10 years old, alone into a private dental examination room and sexually assaulting her. He is accused of committing the same crime on June 14, 2014, against Jane Doe 2, who was also under 10 years old.
Both defendants reported the crimes to their parents who then contacted SAPD. SAPD investigated this case and arrested the defendant Sept. 16, 2015.
