LAW ENFORCEMENT SEEKS PUBLIC’S HELP IDENTIFYING POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL VICTIMS OF

75-YEAR-OLD MAN CHARGED WITH MOLESTING YOUNG FEMALE RELATIVE

WESTMINSTER – A 75-year-old man has been charged with molesting a young female relative in his furniture store while out of view of other family members. Jaime Gonzalez, 75, La Verne, is charged with one felony count of lewd acts on a child and faces a maximum sentence of eight years in state prison and lifetime sex offender registration if convicted. He is being held on $500,000 bail and is scheduled for arraignment this afternoon, Nov. 14, 2012, in Department W-11, West Justice Center, Westminster.

The defendant owns a furniture shop in Fountain Valley. On Nov. 4, 2012, several of the defendant’s family members were visiting the shop, including Jane Doe, a female relative under the age of 14 years old. The defendant is accused of leading Jane Doe out of view of her family to a secluded area of the shop and molesting her. Jane Doe immediately told her family about the incident.

The victim’s family reported the sexual assault to the Fountain Valley Police Department (FVPD), who investigated this case.

Gonzalez is believed to have lived in Corpus Christie, Texas and Covina and La Verne, CA.

If convicted, Gonzalez’s lifetime sex offender registration will bar him from entering County recreational areas and city parks which have passed the Sex Offender Ordinance.
