LAW ENFORCEMENT SEEKS PUBLIC’S HELP IDENTIFYING POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL VICTIMS OF MAN CHARGED WITH DRUGGING AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTING TWO WOMEN
SANTA ANA – The Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the Newport Beach Police Department are seeking the public’s help identifying potential additional victims of a man charged with drugging and sexually assaulting two women. Adel Regragui, 42, Newport Beach, is charged with one felony count each of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, and sexual penetration by foreign object by force for Jane Doe #1, and two felony counts of forcible rape, and one felony count each of forcible oral copulation and sodomy by force for Jane Doe #2. He faces sentencing enhancement allegations for committing a sexual assault against multiple victims and the tying and binding of the victim. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 115 years to life in state prison. Regragui is scheduled to be arraigned today, Dec. 5, 2011, in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. The time is to be determined.
On May 5, 2010, Regragui is accused of meeting 23-year-old Jane Doe #1 at a party. He is accused of inviting her over to his house and giving her drugs. Jane Doe #1 woke up naked and the defendant is accused of forcibly penetrating her digitally and with a beverage bottle. He is accused of raping Jane Doe #1 while she was unable to defend herself or resist due to intoxication. Regragui is accused of forcing her to orally copulate him. During the sexual assault, Jane Doe #1 pleaded with the defendant to stop.
On June 1, 2011, Regragui is accused of having 21-year-old Jane Doe #2 over at his house and giving her Xanax. The defendant is accused of having met Jane Doe #2 at a bar on the Newport Beach peninsula that night. He is accused of instructing the victim to try Gamma-Hydroxybutyric acid (GHB), which caused Jane Doe #2 to vomit and pass out. When she woke, Regragui is accused of forcing Jane Doe #2 to orally copulate him. The defendant is accused of forcibly sodomizing and raping the victim.
On the night of Nov. 26, 2011, Regragui is accused of being at the same bar as Jane Doe #2. He is accused taking her back to his house. The defendant is accused of tying Jane Doe #2’s hands together, dressing her in lingerie that was not hers, and raping her while she was unconscious. When she woke up, Jane Doe #2 did not recall how she ended up at the defendant’s home. Regragui is accused of telling her they had sex.
