LAW ENFORCEMENT SEEKS PUBLIC’S HELP IDENTIFYING POTENTIAL ADDITIONAL VICTIMS OF PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER CHARGED WITH SEXUALLY ASSAULTING MINOR GIRL AND POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

SANTA ANA, Calif. – The Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) and Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) are seeking the public’s help identifying potential additional victims of a professional photographer charged with sexually assaulting a minor girl and possessing child pornography. Christopher Andrew Brown, 42, Orange, is charged with one felony count of possession and control of child pornography, one felony count of sexual penetration by a foreign object of a minor, one felony count of oral copulation of a minor, and one felony count of forcible oral copulation. If convicted, Brown faces a maximum sentence of nine years and four months in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration. Brown is being held on $500,000 bail and his arraignment was continued in court today to Oct. 16, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana.
At the time of the crime, Brown worked as a private children’s gymnastics coach specializing in tumbling and had access to minors. The defendant also traveled as a freelance professional photographer.
Between June 13, 2014, and Aug. 31, 2015, Brown is accused of meeting minor Jane Doe and offering to take photographs of the victim. During that time, the defendant is accused of taking sexually explicit photos of Jane Doe and sexually assaulting her, by sexually penetrating the victim with a foreign object and forcing the victim to orally copulate him on two separate occasions.
One of the defendant’s relatives contacted OCSD and reported the crime. This case was investigated by OCSD with assistance from the Los Angeles Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. OCSD located and arrested Brown on Sept. 25, 2015, at a shopping center in Newport Beach. Brown is accused of possessing and controlling child pornography on his personal computer and an external hard drive.
The Orange County Child Exploitation Task Force (OCCETF) is comprised of members from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), OCSD, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Newport Beach Police Department and U.S. Postal Inspection Service, assigned to investigate Internet-related crimes against children as well as crimes involving the possession, production and distribution of child pornography.
