LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT DEPUTY ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH FELONY CHILD MOLEST OF FEMALE RELATIVE
SANTA ANA – A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy was arrested last Friday and charged today with four counts of felony child molest of a 15-year-old female relative, Jane Doe. The Orange Police Department began investigating the matter on Thursday, May 8, 2008 at the request of Jane Doe’s family. Ricky Hermosillo, 42, Orange, was charged with one felony count of lewd acts upon a child under the age of 14 and three felony counts of lewd acts upon a child between the age of 14 and 15. He was arrested by Orange Police detectives on Friday afternoon. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of nine years in state prison. Hermosillo was released upon posting $100,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on June 3, 2008, at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana. The Department is to be assigned.
From October 13, 2000 to October 13, 2002, Hermosillo is accused of inappropriately touching Jane Doe’s breasts when she was eight or nine years old. Hermosillo is accused of continuing to groom Jane Doe, developing a close relationship with her, and having multiple inappropriate sexual conversations with her. On April 26, 2008, Hermosillo is accused of touching Jane Doe’s pubic region and breasts and making inappropriate sexual comments. Jane Doe reported the incident 10 days later to her father, who immediately contacted the police.
Hermosillo was assigned to the Emergency Operations Bureau of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Senior Deputy District Attorney Karen Schatzle of the Sexual Assault Unit is prosecuting this case.
