MALE RELATIVE CONVICTED OF SEXUALLY ASSAULTING FOUR FEMALE CHILDREN, AGES 5 TO 12, INCLUDING RAPE, SODOMY, ORAL COPULATION, AND MASTURBATION
SANTA ANA – A male relative was convicted yesterday of sexually assaulting four female children, ages 5 to 12 years old, including rape, sodomy, oral copulation, and masturbation. Jaime Martinez, 37, Buena Park, pleaded guilty to 32 felony counts including 11 felony counts of the aggravated sexual assault of a child and enhancements for forcible lewd acts and substantial sexual conduct with a child for Jane Doe #1, five felony counts of lewd acts upon a child under 14 for Jane Doe #2, five felony counts of lewd acts upon a child under 14 with enhancements for substantial sexual conduct with a child for Jane Doe #3, and 11 felony counts of forcible lewd acts upon a child under 14 with enhancements for forcible lewd acts for Jane Doe #4.
Martinez faces a minimum sentence of 150 years to life and a maximum sentence of 480 years to life in state prison at his sentencing on Sept. 3, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. in Department C-41, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.
In December 2006, 9-year-old Jane Doe #1 disclosed to a family member that Martinez, a relative, had been sexually assaulting her regularly since she was 5 years old. Over the course of four years, the defendant raped, sodomized, and engaged in mutual oral copulation and masturbation with the victim. Martinez sexually assaulted the victim while he was alone with her and in public places including the restroom of her elementary school. The defendant forced Jane Doe to watch pornographic films and copy the sexual acts. Martinez terrorized Jane Doe #1 by choking and hitting her, and showing the victim a gun, stating that he would use it on her and her family if Jane Doe told anyone about the sexual assault.
During the investigation by Buena Park Police Department, three additional female relatives, all children, were discovered to also have been sexually victimized by Martinez. The defendant sexually assaulted Jane Doe #2 when she was 11 years old by engaging in oral copulation and sexual touching. Martinez sexually assaulted Jane Doe #3, who was living in Los Angeles County, when she was between 9 and 12 years old by engaging in masturbation and sexual touching. Martinez forced Jane Doe #4 to orally copulate him on several occasions when the victim was 6 years old.
Deputy District Attorney Heather Brown of the Sexual Assault Unit is prosecuting this case.
