MAN ARRAIGNED ON CHARGES OF ATTEMPTED PIMPING AND PANDERING OF WOMAN

SANTA ANA, Calif. – A man was arraigned yesterday on charges of attempted pimping and pandering of a woman. Juan Carlos Giraldo, 51, Van Nuys, is charged with one felony count of attempted pimping, one felony count of pandering and one felony count of possession of a prohibited weapon. If convicted, he faces a maximum of six years in state prison. Giraldo is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on Jan. 26, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. in Department C-55, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.

Circumstances of the Case

Giraldo is accused of being a pimp who exploits women and/or children for financial gain. The victims are often required to turn over all payment they receive for sex purchasers to their pimp.

On Jan. 14, 2017, Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) officers contacted Giraldo and the victim, 23-year-old Jane Doe, in an area of Santa Ana known for prostitution. The defendant is accused of sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with Jane Doe.

Giraldo is accused of being an acquaintance of and living with Doe in Van Nuys. The defendant is accused of pandering the victim by encouraging her to solicit commercial sex and driving her to areas known for prostitution in Santa Ana. Giraldo is accused of taking money from Doe as payment for driving the victim. When SAPD officers contacted the defendant, he is accused of being in possession of a golf club that was being used for protection. Giraldo was arrested by SAPD, who investigated this case.
