MAN CHARGED FOR HIT-AND-RUN CRASH OF ELDERLY WOMAN IN MCDONALD’S PARKING LOT IN HUNTINGTON BEACH
WESTMINSTER – A man was charged today for hitting an elderly woman with his vehicle in a McDonald’s restaurant parking lot in Huntington Beach and fleeing the scene. Taylor Kirby, 24, Signal Hill, is charged with one felony count of hit and run with injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of three years in state prison. He is out of custody on $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear for arraignment on Sept. 16, 2015, at 8:30 a.m. in Department W-12, West Justice Center, Westminster.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. on April 22, 2015, Kirby is accused of driving a Dodge Challenger in a McDonald’s Restaurant parking lot in Huntington Beach. The defendant is accused of being seen in surveillance video quickly reversing his vehicle and backing up into 86-year-old Jane Doe, who was walking through the lot. The defendant is accused of stepping out of the Dodge Challenger with a female passenger, walking toward the rear of the vehicle where Jane Doe was lying, and quickly returning into the vehicle without rendering aid or assistance to the victim or exchanging contact information. The defendant is accused of driving away from the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.
On April 30, 2015, Kirby turned himself in to the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD).
