MAN CHARGED IN HIGH SPEED CHASE THROUGH ORANGE COUNTY
Santa Ana – Kenneth Oliver Olson, 47, of Capistrano Beach was arraigned this afternoon on felony charges of evading while driving recklessly and of possession of a controlled substance. He is also charged with misdemeanor driving without a valid license and possession of controlled substance paraphernalia. Olson pled not guilty to all charges.
The charges against Olson stem from a car chase through Orange County on Tuesday, March 16, 2004. Olson is accused of racing along interstate highways and side streets at speeds up to 100 mph in an attempt to evade Garden Grove Police. The chase, which started around 11 a.m. in Garden Grove, led police from central Orange County all the way down to San Clemente before ending in Newport Beach.
Commissioner Martin G. Enquist set bail at $25,000. Olson remains in custody. His next court appearance will be on March 23, at 8:30 a.m. in department W15 in the West Justice Center. Deputy District Attorney Donde Mccament is assigned to the case.
