Man Charged with Assaulting Girl Who Gave Birth to Fetus at School

EDITOR’S NOTE: Photo of Bartolo available at Anaheim Police Department

ANAHEIM — A day laborer has been charged with the repeated sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl who became pregnant and suffered a miscarriage while at school.

Nabor Estrada Bartolo (DOB 7-12-70), his wife, and three children had been renting a room from the victim’s family in Anaheim. He is charged with the following crimes, which could result in more than 40 years in prison upon conviction:

  • Four counts of molestation by force of someone under 14
  • One count of molestation without force of someone under 14
  • Two counts of assault by force, likely to produce great bodily injury, and
  • One count of child endangerment.

The victim discovered she was pregnant in mid-April, so the defendant obtained pills in Mexico that are known to cause miscarriages. He gave the girl the pills, which she took during the last two weeks of April. During this time, Bartolo also pushed on the victim’s stomach. She suffered a miscarriage of the 26-week-old fetus at Sycamore Jr. High School on April 26.

The next day, the girl told her mother what happened. The mother notified police and took her daughter to UCI Medical Center, where she was treated and released. Police responded to their house the same day and began an investigation. However, Bartolo had not been home for at least a week. On Friday, the District Attorney’s Office issued an arrest and search warrant for Bartolo. He was charged on Monday.

Anyone with information on Bartolo’s whereabouts should call Anaheim police Sgt. Rick Martinez at (714) 765-1896.
