MAN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER OF TWO CHILDREN AND THEIR MOTHER BY STABBING THEM DURING BURGLARY
SANTA ANA, Calif. – A man was charged today with the attempted murder of two children and their mother by stabbing them during a burglary of the victims’ home. Israel Larios Jr, 20, Costa Mesa, is charged with three felony counts of attempted murder, three felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon, one felony count of residential burglary, and one felony count of criminal threats. Larios also faces sentencing enhancements for personal use of a deadly weapon and causing great bodily injury. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 21 years in state prison. Israel is scheduled for continued arraignment on Nov. 18, 2016, in Department CJ1, Central Jail Court, Santa Ana.
On Oct. 18, 2016, Larios is accused of entering the home of the victims with the intent of committing a theft at the residence. When the victims returned home, the defendant is accused of threatening to kill the victims using a knife. He is accused of stabbing the victims as they attempted to flee the residence. Neighbors witnessed the attack and called 911.
When officers from the Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) arrived on scene, a neighbor identified Larios as the attacker. The defendant is accused of fleeing from the officers. After a short chase, CMPD detained the defendant and he is accused of being in possession of a knife and property belonging to the victim. All three victims were taken to the hospital and treated for their injuries.
CMPD investigated this case.
