MAN CHARGED WITH PIMPING WOMAN HE MET ON DATING WEBSITE AND TAKING ALL OF HER PROCEEDS

SANTA ANA – A man has been charged with pimping a 26-year-old woman he met on an online dating website. Everett Arnold Walker, 24, Las Vegas, is charged with one felony count each of pimping and pandering and faces a maximum sentence of six years in state prison if convicted. Walker is being held on $250,000 bail and is expected to be arraigned today, Friday, January 10, 2014, in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. The time is to be determined.

Circumstances of the Case

Walker is accused of being a pimp who exploits women and/or children for financial gain. Pimps often establish rigid rules that their victims are expected to follow and victims are required to turn over all payment they receive for sex acts from sex purchasers to their pimp.

Walker is accused of meeting 26-year-old Jane Doe on a dating website and meeting her in person for the first time on or about Oct. 1, 2013. The defendant is accused of convincing Jane Doe to work for him as a prostitute and subsequently posting advertisements on a website known for prostitution offering sex acts with the victim.

Walker is accused of taking all of the money Jane Doe was paid for sex acts and not allowing her to keep any of the money. He is accused of pimping her in both Orange County and Las Vegas by flying her back and forth and arranging prostitution encounters in both areas.

On Jan. 8, 2014, the Anaheim Police Department (APD) contacted Jane Doe and determined that she was the victim of pimping by the defendant.

The investigation by APD is ongoing.  Deputy District Attorney Brad Schoenleben of the HEAT Unit is prosecuting this case.

Proposition 35 and HEAT

In November 2012, California’s anti-human trafficking Proposition 35 (Prop 35) was enacted in California with 81 percent of the vote, and over 82 percent of the vote in Orange County, to increase the penalty for human trafficking, particularly in cases involving the trafficking of a minor by force.
