MAN CHARGED WITH SEXUALLY ASSAULTING TWO GIRLS BETWEEN AGES 9 AND 12 AFTER MEETING THEM AT CHURCH AND BEFRIENDING THEIR FAMILIES

SANTA ANA – The Orange County District Attorney’s (OCDA) Office has filed charges against a man for sexually assaulting two girls between ages 9 and 12 after meeting them through church and befriending their families. David Elifar Verduzco, 32, Santa Ana, was charged yesterday, Nov. 15, 2011, with one felony count each of sexual penetration with a child 10 years or younger, lewd acts upon a child under 14, and child annoyance for Jane Doe #1. He is also charged with two felony counts of lewd acts upon a child under 14 for Jane Doe #2. The defendant was also charged with sentencing enhancement allegations for substantial sexual conduct with a child and lewd acts on multiple children as to Jane Doe #1 and Jane Doe #2. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 60 years to life in state prison. Verduzco is being held on $1 million bail and is expected to appear in court for a continued arraignment Dec. 9, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana.
Verduzco was a parishioner of Agape House of Prayer in Anaheim, where he gave electronic keyboard lessons. The defendant is accused of meeting both his victims and their families at the Church and befriending them.
Between Jan. 1, 2011 and Sept. 27, 2011, Verduzco is accused of giving 12-year-old Jane Doe #2 keyboard lessons. During the lessons, he defendant is accused of kissing her on the cheek and inappropriately touching the victim’s thigh. Verduzco is accused of sending Jane Doe #2 inappropriate text messages to her cell phone.
On Aug. 28, 2011, after befriending 9-year-old Jane Doe #1’s family, Verduzco is accused of babysitting Jane Doe #1 and two other little girls while Jane Doe #1’s parents were at the hospital. After putting the two youngest girls to bed, Verduzco is accused of digitally penetrating Jane Doe #1 in her bed.
