MAN CHARGED WITH STABBING-MURDER OF MOTHER IN ANAHEIM

 

SANTA ANA – A man will be arraigned today for the stabbing-murder of his mother in her Anaheim home. Gabriel Ramirez, 21, Anaheim, is charged with one felony count of murder with a sentencing enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon and faces a maximum sentence of 26 years to life in state prison if convicted. Ramirez is being held on $1 million bail and is expected to be arraigned today, Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana.

 

At approximately 7:00 p.m. on Oct. 27, 2013, Ramirez is accused of murdering his 42-year-old mother Margarita Esquivias by stabbing her repeatedly in a bedroom in her Anaheim home.

 

After the murder, the defendant is accused of calling 911. The Anaheim Police Department responded to the scene, located the victim, and arrested the defendant. The victim was transported the hospital, where she died of her injuries.

 

Senior Deputy District Attorney Steve McGreevy of the Homicide Unit is prosecuting this case.
