MAN CONVICTED OF MOLESTING THREE YOUNG GIRLS BETWEEN AGES 9 AND 11 DURING PLAY VISITS AT HIS HOME

SANTA ANA – A man was convicted yesterday for molesting three girls between the ages of 9 and 11 while the victims were visiting the defendant’s home. Omar Alirio Guzman, 46, Mission Viejo, was found guilty by a jury yesterday, July 23, 2013, of eight felony counts of lewd acts upon a child under 14 with sentencing enhancement allegations for substantial sexual conduct against Jane Doe #1 and committing a sexual offense against multiple victims. Guzman faces a maximum sentence of 120 years to life in state prison and mandatory lifetime sex offender registration at his sentencing, Oct. 4, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. in Department C-29, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.

Between February 2009 and December 2010, Guzman became acquainted with 10-year-old Jane Doe #1 and 9-year-old Jane Doe #2 while they were visiting the defendant’s child relative at Guzman’s Mission Viejo home. During this time, Guzman sexually assaulted Jane Doe #1 on several occasions while at his home. On the first occasion, Guzman touched the victim’s chest and body. On other separate occasions, he touched Jane Doe #1’s chest and vagina and orally copulated her. On multiple occasions between May 2009 and December 2010, Guzman touched Jane Doe #2’s chest over her clothes.

On one occasion in August 2010, Guzman touched 11-year-old Jane Doe #3’s chest and buttocks over her clothing while the victim was staying at the defendant’s home during a sleepover.

Jane Doe #1 reported the sexual assault to her mother, who reported it to law enforcement. Guzman was also linked to the crimes against Jane Doe #2 and Jane Doe #3 based on the investigation.

Guzman’s lifetime sex offender registration will bar him from entering County recreational areas and City parks which have passed the Sex Offender Ordinance.
