MAN ON MOTORCYCLE CHARGED WITH EVADING DEPUTY BY RECKLESSLY RUNNING RED LIGHTS AT 100 MPH

SANTA ANA – A man has been charged with recklessly driving 100 mph, including running through red lights, on his motorcycle in an effort to evade a pursuing Orange County Sheriff’s deputy. This case resulted in a non-fatal officer-involved shooting. Dennis Mitchell Mueller, 20, Rancho Santa Margarita, is charged with one felony count of evading while driving recklessly and one misdemeanor count each of resisting and obstructing an officer and driving on a suspended license. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of three years in state prison. The defendant is being held on $25,000 bail in this case and is subject to a no-bail probation violation hold. Mueller is expected to be arraigned today, Thursday, April 12, 2012, in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. The time is to be determined.

 

The Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA) is investigating the officer-involved shooting incident at this location involving this defendant. At the end of the investigation, the OCDA will release a full factual detailed report regarding this incident. It is the policy of the OCDA office to not release further details at this time.
