MAN SENTENCED TO FOUR YEARS IN STATE PRISON FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING THREE PROSTITUTES AFTER THREATENING THEM WITH A GUN

*Defendant was also ordered to register as a sex offender

SANTA ANA – A man was sentenced today to four years in state prison and sex offender registration for sexually assaulting three women and threatening them with a gun after picking them up to engage in prostitution. Oscar David Duenas, 29, Santa Ana, pleaded guilty today, Dec. 15. 2011, to one felony count of sexual battery. He was also convicted by a jury in this case Dec. 2, 2011, of two misdemeanor counts of battery and one misdemeanor count of petty theft.

On three separate dates between Sept. 20, 2009, and Oct. 2, 2009, Duenas sexually assaulted three women between the ages of 18 and 30 years old while they were working as prostitutes. He picked up each victim in Garden Grove and drove them in his Lexus sedan to a bank to withdraw cash from his account. He then drove each victim to a residential area to have sex with them.

Once parked with the victims, Duenas threatened the women by making statements that they were to do as he said and telling one that he would kill her if she didn’t cooperate. He showed two of the victims a firearm and told the third that he was in possession of a firearm. Duenas sexually assaulted all three victims and stole Jane Doe #3’s money.

Jane Done #1 reported the sexual assault to police the following day. Jane Doe #2 went to the hospital after the sexual assault and police were contacted at that time. Jane Doe #3 reported the sexual assault to police immediately. The victims do not know each other.

The Garden Grove Police Department investigated this case and arrested the defendant Oct. 16, 2009.
