MAN TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR MURDERING BOUNCER AT SANTA ANA STRIP CLUB
SANTA ANA – A man will be arraigned today for murdering a bouncer at a Santa Ana strip club. Carlos Rosario Gonzales, 34, Hemet, is charged with murder and faces an enhancement for the personal discharge of a firearm causing death. He also has a prior conviction for felony assault. If convicted, he faces 50 years to life in prison. He is scheduled to be arraigned today, October 5, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. in Department C-5, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.
On October 2, 2006, Gonzales is accused of going with two friends to the California Girls Nightclub at 1109 N Harbor Blvd. in Santa Ana. After the bouncers asked Gonzales and his friends to leave the club, a fight broke out in the parking lot. During the fight, Gonzales is accused of leaving briefly and then returning with a gun. He is accused of shooting one bouncer, Michael Blankenhorn, in the back and killing him.
Senior Deputy District Attorney Margaret Roper of the Homicide Unit is prosecuting this case.
