SANTA ANA, Calif. – A man is scheduled to be arraigned today for the special circumstances murder of his father and his father’s girlfriend, and the attempted murder of two men, all of whom he shot in their Aliso Viejo home.

Circumstances of the Case

  • At the time of the crime, Luke Ferguson is accused living in the Aliso Viejo home of his father, 59-year-old Douglas Ferguson, and his father’s long-term girlfriend, 51-year-old Lisa Cosenza, along with 48-year-old John Doe 1 and 23-year-old John Doe 2.
  • On Oct. 12, 2017, at approximately 2:45 p.m., the defendant is accused of shooting John Doe 1 in the knee and back, John Doe 2 in the face, and fatally shooting Douglas Ferguson and Cosenza, all while inside the home.
  • The defendant is accused of fleeing the scene in a surviving victim’s car.
  • The Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) responded to the scene and John Doe 1 and John Doe 2 were taken to a local hospital.
  • On the afternoon of Oct. 13, 2017, Ferguson was located and arrested in the stolen car in Inglewood.
