MAN TO BE ARRAIGNED FOR STABBING AND MURDERING BOUNCER ON NEW YEAR’S DAY

LAGUNA NIGUEL – A Big Bear man faces charges after stabbing two bouncers, murdering one, on New Year’s Day at the Time Out Tavern in Aliso Viejo.  Lorne Paul Kelley, 26, is charged with murder and attempted murder with an enhancement for the personal use of a deadly weapon.  Candie Kate Wilson, 45, Hesperia, is charged with being an accessory after the fact.  If convicted, Kelley faces a maximum of 26 years to life in prison and is being held on $1 million bail.  Wilson faces up to three years in prison and is being held on $20,000 bail.  Both defendants are scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow, Wednesday, January 3, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. in Department H2, Harbor Justice Center, Newport Beach.

In the early morning hours of January 1, 2007, Kelley is accused of getting into a fight at the Time Out Tavern, and being asked to leave by the bouncers.  He is accused of going to his car and retrieving a knife, and then attempting to return to the bar.  As the bouncers tried to subdue him, Kelley is accused of stabbing two bouncers, murdering one and injuring the other.  Wilson, the mother of Kelley’s friend, is accused of helping Kelley by driving him to her Hesperia home and helping him destroy evidence by burning his clothes.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Ebrahim Baytieh of the Homicide Unit is prosecuting this case.
