MARRIED BELLFLOWER PASTOR PLEADS GUILTY TO SOLICITING SEX ACT FROM UNDERCOVER MALE OFFICER IN A PARK
WESTMINISTER – A married pastor at Rosewood Church in Bellflower in Los Angeles County pleaded guilty today to soliciting to engage in a lewd act at a public restroom in Central Park on Gothard Street in Huntington Beach. Carlos Samuel Florez Chavez, 41, of Bellflower, was charged in November, 2005 with one misdemeanor count and pleaded guilty at the West Justice Center in Westminster.
The defendant will be on three years of probation and serve 10 days on a Cal Trans work program. The crime carried a penalty range of probation to six months in jail.
On November 29, 2005 at about 2 p.m., a Huntington Beach Police Department male officer was working in an undercover capacity. Chavez is accused of meeting the officer in the bathroom, making eye contact, exiting the restroom with the officer, repeatedly talking to him about engaging in various sex acts, going back into the bathroom with the officer, and then agreeing to engage in oral copulation in a public place.
