WHO: Austin Jeffrey Farley, 26
WHAT: The Orange County District Attorney filed an amended criminal complaint this afternoon against Farley, who was driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of .20 percent and caused the car accident killing 14-year-old Ashton Sweet and injuring four others over Memorial Day weekend. Today during arraignment, Farley pleaded not guilty to the amended charges of one felony count of murder and one felony count of driving under the influence causing bodily injury with sentencing enhancement allegations for causing great bodily injury or death to more than one victim and inflicting great bodily injury. He is being held on $1 million bail and if convicted on all the charges and faces a maximum sentence of 22 years to life in state prison. He is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing June 24, 2011, at 9:00 a.m., in Department H-1, Harbor Justice Center, Newport Beach. He faces a preliminary hearing July 15, 2011, at 9:00 a.m., in Department H-1.
