WHO: Colin Hunter Davis, 18, Newport Beach
WHAT: Has been charged today with three misdemeanor counts of participating in a rout and unlawful assembly, disturbing the peace, and trespassing to injure property. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum sentence of one year in Orange County Jail. He is currently out of custody.
On the night of Aug. 8, 2015, Davis is accused of entering Edwards Big Newport 6 in Newport Beach without paying admission and opening the emergency exit door of a theater screening a thriller movie filled with moviegoers. He is accused of participating in an unlawful assembly which prompted a crowd of moviegoers to scream and scatter in fear of the noise from a leaf blower. Several theater patrons suffered minor injuries including a broken toe and pain from being knocked to the ground.
Newport Beach Police Department investigated this case and Deputy District Attorney Angela Hong of the Special Prosecutions Unit is prosecuting this case.
WHEN: Arraignment scheduled for Nov. 18, 2015, at 8:30 a.m.
