WHO: The Board of Parole Hearings, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation

WHAT: Postponed Gary Eccher’s parole hearing for six months pending the outcome of a Fourth District Court of Appeal decision regarding the letter Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas wrote to Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. opposing the inmate’s parole. Eccher was convicted by a jury July 11, 1986, of first degree murder. Eccher was sentenced to 15 years to life in state prison Aug. 8, 1986, after the court reduced his conviction to second degree murder. The victim’s sister appeared at the hearing and opposed Eccher’s parole on record.
