WHAT: Will be holding a regional informational summit on human trafficking. The Human Exploitation and Trafficking (H.E.A.T.) Institute is a state-wide research-based think tank created in 2015, with the purpose to end human trafficking in California. Three of the nation’s 13 high intensity child sex trafficking areas are in California. The H.E.A.T. Institute brings together county leaders, child welfare, education, law enforcement, criminal justice, health, the non-profit sectors, and human trafficking survivors, to be part of a Blue Ribbon Commission. The Commission will focus on regional responses to and the understanding of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) and other victims of human trafficking. The H.E.A.T. Institute will assess strengths, gaps and needs in order to develop a visionary strategy to put an end to human trafficking state-wide.
This summit is open to the public. Media interested in attending can contact OCDA Spokesperson Roxi Fyad at (714) 347-8405.
