WHO: Joshua Charles Acosta, 23, Fort Irwin

WHAT: Jury trial opening statements are scheduled to begin on Monday. The defendant was charged on Sept. 27, 2016, with three felony counts of murder with a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders, and sentencing enhancements for the personal discharge of a firearm causing death. Codefendant Frank Sato Felix, 27, Sun Valley, is scheduled for a post-preliminary hearing arraignment on Nov. 9, 2018, at 8:30 a.m. in Department C-5, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana. If convicted, they face a maximum sentence of life in state prison without the possibility of parole.

In the early morning hours of Sept. 24, 2016, Acosta is accused of entering the Fullerton home of 39-year-old Jennifer Goodwill-Yost and her husband 34-year-old Christopher Yost, and murdering them as well as the victims’ friend, 28-year-old Arthur William Boucher. Acosta is accused shooting and murdering the three victims with a firearm.

Senior Deputy District Attorney Troy Pino of the Homicide Unit is prosecuting this case.
