WHO: Court of Appeal, Fourth Appellate District, Division Three (DCA)
WHAT: Affirmed a judgment of the Superior Court of Orange County by the Honorable William R. Froeberg, judge. Kwang Chol Joy was found guilty by a jury on July 29, 2014, of one felony count of second degree murder. Joy was sentenced on Sept. 12, 2014, to 15 years to life in state prison.

This case was originally prosecuted by Senior Deputy District Attorney Scott Simmons of the Homicide Unit. The California Attorney General’s Office handled the appeal for this case.
