WHO: District Attorney Tony Rackauckas and his staff members
WHAT: The Orange County District Attorney (OCDA) will give an in-depth presentation on the People v. Hibbs case. Christopher Hibbs, 45, Corona, was previously indicted in August 2008, on charges of unlawfully tasing a handcuffed suspect in the back of a patrol car. Hibbs was indicted on one felony count of assault or battery by a public officer and one felony count of assault with a taser. A jury was unable to reach a verdict last month, hanging 11 to one in the defendant’s favor, and the case was dismissed by the OCDA. The OCDA will also clarify the statements made to the press after the case dismissal and the use of the phrase “code of silence.”
