WHO: California State Senator Janet Nguyen and Orange County District Attorney (OCDA) Tony Rackauckas.
WHAT: Will be hosting a media availability to discuss Senator Nguyen’s Senate Bill 971, which would include “sexual orientation” and “gender” as special circumstance categories for first-degree murders. This bill comes after the tragic murder of Blaze Bernstein, a 19-year-old Ivy League student from Lake Forest who was a member of the LGBTQ community. SB 971 will be heard in the Senate Public Safety Committee prior to this media availability.
WHEN: Tuesday, April 10, 2018, immediately after the hearing* of SB 971 in the Senate Public Safety Committee.
