MURDER TRIAL BEGINS FOR A MISSION VIEJO WOMAN FOR STABBING AND MURDERING HER BOYFRIEND’S 13-YEAR-OLD SON
SANTA ANA – Opening statements will begin Tuesday on a murder trial involving a Mission Viejo woman. Tamara Bohler, 48, is charged with the murder of her boyfriend’s 13-year-old son. She is also charged with attempting to murder her boyfriend and causing him great bodily injury. There is an enhancement alleged for the use of a knife as a deadly weapon. If convicted, Bohler faces life without the possibility of parole. She is scheduled to begin trial Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at 9:00 a.m. in Department C-41, Central Justice Center, Santa Ana.
The People intend to present evidence that on July 3, 2003, Bohler attempted to kill her boyfriend and murdered his son. She is accused of taking a knife from the kitchen and repeatedly stabbing her boyfriend, John Doe, to kill him while he was sleeping. John Doe woke up and was able to disarm Bohler. As he struggled to get away, she is accused of kicking him down the stairs. He was able to flee to a neighbor’s house and call the police.
Bohler is then accused of returning to the kitchen and taking a new knife, which she carried with her into the room of John Doe’s sleeping 13-year-old son, Alex. She is accused of brutally stabbing him numerous times. The People will present evidence that Alex suffered multiple defense wounds to his body as he attempted to protect himself from Bohler’s attack. He died at the top of the stairs as he tried to escape.
Senior Deputy District Attorney Michael Murray is prosecuting the case.
