Case # 16NF1627
NORTHERN CALIFORNIA MAN SENT TO PRISON FOR PIMPING WOMAN AND HITTING POLICE CAR WHILE ATTEMPTING TO FLEE
FULLERTON, Calif. – A Northern California man was convicted and sentenced to prison for pimping a woman and colliding with an unmarked police car as he attempted to evade officers and flee the scene. Treshawn William Johnson, 23, Sacramento, pleaded guilty today, July 21, 2016, to one felony count of pimping and one misdemeanor count of hit and run with property damage. Johnson was sentenced to three years in state prison.
Circumstances of the Case
Johnson is a pimp who exploits women for financial gain. The victims are often required to turn over all payment they receive for sex acts from sex purchasers to their pimp.
Between May 2015 and May 2016, Johnson induced Jane Doe to solicit and engage in commercial sex in areas known for prostitution and human trafficking in Orange County. The defendant posted sexually explicit advertisements of Jane Doe soliciting commercial sex and used the money she received from sex purchasers for his benefit.
On May 17, 2016 members of the Orange County Human Trafficking Task Force (OCHTTF) arranged a meeting with Jane Doe at a hotel in Anaheim. Members of the OCHTTF observed the victim getting out of a car driven by the defendant, but when they attempted to contact Johnson, he accelerated his car, crashing into an unmarked police vehicle and fled the scene. Johnson fled to Northern California shortly thereafter.
On July 8, 2016, after being arrested in Northern California, the defendant was transported to Orange County.
Members of the OCHTTF and the Orange County District Attorney’s (OCDA) Office work proactively to protect women and minors from falling victim to commercial sexual exploitation. This case was investigated by the OCHTTF, a partnership between Anaheim Police Department, California Highway Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Huntington Beach Police Department, Irvine Police Department, OCDA, Orange County Sheriff’s Department, Santa Ana Police Department, and community and non-profit partners.
