NURSING ASSISTANT CONVICTED AND SENTENCED FOR SEXUALLY TOUCHING THREE TEENAGE FEMALE ROP STUDENTS

SANTA ANA – A certified nursing assistant was convicted and sentenced today for sexually touching three of his teenage female Regional Occupational Program (ROP) students. Alfredo Fernandez Gonzalez, 46, Orange, pleaded guilty to three misdemeanor counts of lewd conduct and sentenced to 120 days in jail and three years of formal probation. Gonzalez was also served with a no-contact protective order prohibiting him from having any contact with his victims and he was ordered to pay restitution.

Gonzalez was a certified nursing assistant who trained students in an ROP nursing course at Park West Care and Rehabilitation Center in Santa Ana.

Between March 8, 2011, and May 10, 2011, Gonzalez inappropriately touched three female teenage students, ages 17 and 18 years old. He groomed the victims by hugging them and kissing them on the neck. He made comments about dating the victims and complimented them for having attractive bodies.

Gonzalez grabbed and patted the victims’ buttocks, put his hands around their hips, and pulled his victims towards him. Gonzalez also touched the victims’ buttocks under the guise of simulating nursing procedures.

In May 2011, the victims went with their mothers to report the sexual touching to the Santa Ana Police Department, who investigated this case.

Deputy District Attorney Nicholas Miller prosecuted this case.
